Outdoor centre accessibility and modernisation in Farmoor, Oxfordshire
In September 2024 we were contacted by Lucy crittenden who is the manager at the hill end center in Farmoor, Oxfordshire. They run an outdoor center where children and adults can go for an outdoor break. They wanted to modernise one of there dormitorys to be wheelchair friendly and demolish an old toilet block to create more parking space for the guests.
We started with several site visits as there was solar heating and plumbing installed in a plant room that was to be turned into a wetroom which needed relocation.
Doors and corridors in the building needed widening and made to be level access, and every window also needed to be replaced, with wheelchair access required for the front, side and rear of the building.
We had 30 days to start and finish all works so that we didn't interrupt the guests that were booked in for November. This was a massive challenge for us, but we accepted and with some extra work added in during the build we ran 2-3 days over schedule but still finished before the first guests arrived.
